A Graduate in Mass Communication from the Sri Lanka University of Sri Jayewardenapura , Reading for Masters in Philosophy from University of Kelaniya and Diploma holder in Environmental Journalism and Film Making, Nalin entered the field of Cinema through Film Location Services Sri lanka and has received international exposure while working with a number of foreign films including internationally acclaimed films, ‘Mother Teresa de Calcutta’(2003) and ‘Water’(2005).
Nalin is a Line Producer of two Sri Lankan feature films. The short film ‘Pair of Shoes’ directed by him representing Sri Lanka at film festivals has received a number of awards nationally and internationally. Professionally Nalin is engaged in documentary film direction and does script writing and is a free-lance journalist. He has made number of documentary programs and films for the Presidential Media Unit, various Ministries and non-governmental organizations.
Being in the final six among artists from the world, Nalin received the privilege of being invited to represent Sri Lanka as an invited artist at the Artists Summit Kyoto held in Japan in 2009.
Nalin was the Media secretary to the Hon. Deputy Minister of Education and Media & Communication consultant for the GEF/UNDP funded Project “Strengthening capacity to control the Introduction and Spread of Invasive Alien Species in Sri Lanka” implemented by the Biodiversity Secretariat of the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment in Sri Lanka.
Presently working as a Communication Specialist for the GCF funded project Climate Resilient Integrated Water Management ( CRIWMP ) “ වැවිගම් පුබුදුව “ implemented by Mini Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment in Sri Lanka.
He is a founder member of the Asia Regional Peace Shadow against the use of nuclear weapons and also holds membership in the SRI Network of Sri Lanka on environmental friendly paddy farming and is engaged in a good and worthy media mission.
